Christopher A. Hanson filed this mandamus action on June 4, 2026 to compel the University of Florida to produce public records responsive to a March 2026 records request. It is brought under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, and Article I, Section 24 of the Florida Constitution. An evidentiary hearing was held September 2, 2026. On September 18, 2026, Judge Kreider denied the petition (order in the docket below).
The Court denied the petition on September 18, 2026. Having conducted "an in-camera review of the materials generated by the search terms provided to Respondents by Petitioner," the Court found that "all materials requested by Petitioner that meet the definition of a public record were produced to Petitioner prior to the filing of this action." Petitioner disagrees; the reasons are in the record below.
The records I requested remain unproduced and, unlawfully, unidentified. What the University did put on the public docket was 479 pages of what it gathered, including records I never requested, about people unrelated to me, with their personal information exposed in the process. Those pages are redacted or omitted here. Nothing else is.
